Martine Vaugel founded the "Passionist" movement in art in 1986. "My life has been dedicated to the creation of art. I believe that art is and was always meant to be, a tool for teaching and learning values in visual ways that go directly to the understanding of the soul.".

Martine Vaugel's portrait of Mahatma Gandhi has been placed on his ashes and used as an International Peace Prize.
Some of her other more notable portraits are of John Lennon, Katherine Hepburn, Nick Nolte, Sir Roger Moore, Michelle Pfeiffer, as well as President Ronald Reagan, Richard the Lion Heart and Charles V.
One of her latest commissions was for Charles Andre, Marquis de Brissac, and his son, an heir to the Hapsburg dynasty. She has also done numerous portrait reliefs and children's portraits for private as well as public placement.
